Thaipat adds 19 New Securities in ESG100 Universe
With list of 10 ESG Turnaround securities released
30 May 2024 – Thaipat Institute today reveals set of securities, entering in the ESG100 universe for the first time, as 2024 ESG Emerging list. Firm also releases list of 10 ESG Turnaround securities for the second time this year as a choice of ESG investment with potential returns that are no less than conventional investments.
Thaipat Institute, by its ESG Rating unit, the pioneer in the development of Thailand’s corporate sustainability database and the annual ESG100 list since 2015, has compiled the 2024 ESG Emerging list to recognize promising ESG performers on the Thai stock market. For the list, the institute has reviewed 920 companies/funds/investment trusts using ESG information from over 17,037 publicly available data points from six data sources1
Dr. Pipat Yodprudtikan, chairman of Thaipat Institute, says, “To compile ESG Emerging list for the fifth time this year, we assessed companies’ performance based on their ESG-related disclosures. The list has been qualified by our screening criteria of ESG100 securities and met our rating criteria guided by the CORE Framework2 principles. We believe the list helps investors increase their investing opportunities in contributing good returns for the long term”.
As a result of assessment, the list of securities, entering in the ESG100 universe for the first time, that classified as 2024 ESG Emerging list consists of 19 securities: ADVICE, BBGI, COCOCO, CPNREIT, GFC, HUMAN, KCG, LHHOTEL, LPF, NSL, Q-CON, SAFE, SECURE, SHR, TPBI, TTA, UP, WHAUP, WPH.
Investors who are interested in investing with selected constituents from ESG Emerging list (2020-2024) of 44 securities can do so via the Thaipat ESG Emerging Private Fund3 which adopted passive investing strategy and weighed small- and mid-cap securities as equal as large-cap ones. Its investment policy relies on a larger price range movement of the small- and mid-cap than the large-cap, with a rebalancing strategy every 3 months in building up opportunities for gaining high returns against benchmarking index.
Thaipat Institute has also compiled the 2024 ESG Turnaround list for the second time as a choice of ESG investment with opportunities in getting returns from securities that are in the recovery mode and backing up by ESG factors.
The list of ESG Turnaround securities consists of AOT, BA, BAFS, CPF, DUSIT, ERW, MALEE, SEAFCO, SPA, THRE in a total of 10 securities.
“To compile ESG Turnaround list for the second time this year, we selected securities which their generic ESG profile conformed to our criteria during the assessment period even though there are negative business performance or underperforming the market. The securities in the list have shown a turnaround signal and upside opportunity from market recovery with underlying potential on their core business backed by ESG factors”. Dr. Pipat added.
The 2024 ESG100 list will be used as key input for annual update of Thaipat ESG Index, adding or removing securities of index constituents. Thaipat ESG Index serves as a benchmark index and is used as an investable index for a variety of ESG-themed investment products provided by asset management companies.
